Online Fax by GoFaxer™

Online Fax is a way to use the internet instead of a phone line to transmit faxes.

Traditional Fax
To send a traditional fax you send a scanned copy of a document (called a facsimile) from one fax machine to another. Only one fax can be sent or received at one time. Since this way of sending a fax requires a phone line, the sender pays any applicable long distance fees. In addition to requiring a land line, both parties must have a fax machine.

Online Fax
Online faxing costs less and usually has added features that traditional faxing doesn't have. For example, most fax machines require a dedicated phone line. If they share a phone line, callers can get that annoying fax sound. Another benefit of online faxes is that you don't have to print every fax. You can view, forward, and email faxes without ever using a printer.

Most of the popular online fax services (like eFax) require that you install special reader software to get faxes. With GoFaxer you do not need to install anything to send or receive faxes. There is very little set up time and sending a fax is just like sending email except instead of an email address, you enter a phone number.

Here's how Online Fax works:

1. Log in or create an account on GoFaxer
2. Select "Compose a Fax" from the dropdown list
3. Enter a fax number
4. Attach the document or image to be faxed (GoFaxer supports: jpeg, gif, tiff, pdf, postscript documents, Microsoft Word documents, and text files (txt).
5. Write a cover letter and click send.

If the recipient has a fax machine the document will print out just as it will any other fax. You will have a record of faxes sent and received and have copies of each.

Sending a fax this way is very fast - it usually takes less than 30 seconds. Since there are no busy signals, you can get or send multiple faxes at the same time.

When you sign up for GoFaxer's online fax service you a toll-free fax number so you can receive faxes. Faxes will show up in your inbox and the fax will be an attachment in PDF format. You may view your fax online or print it out. There is a small tool bar in the system tray for sending and receiving the faxes and it comes after installing the fax software. Upon receiving the email to the Internet fax service providers the automated programs convert the email messages to the fax format and send the fax to the recipient fax number. On the other hand the recipient receives the fax on their fax machine normally.
