- Is GoFaxer compatible with traditional faxing?
- Yes. GoFaxer is an electronic fax service based on the internet. It is able to take traditional analog fax signals and turn them into digital documents, as well as take digital documents and turn them into traditional fax signals. If you have a GoFaxer account you can send to normal fax machines as well as receive faxes from normal fax machines.
- Does GoFaxer require me to download and install and software?
- No. GoFaxer is a web-based application, with no software to install. All you need to do is access GoFaxer.com, meaning that you are able to send and receive faxes anywhere you have an Internet connection.
- I already have a fax number. Can I use that?
- Yes and No. You can have your current fax number forwarded to your GoFaxer number. Please call your telephone company to have that number forwarded. This way you don’t need to change all of your business cards or other places where your old fax number is placed. You can’t port your old fax number at this time. In the future this option will be available.
- What types of fax numbers can I get?
- Currently we offer only toll-free fax numbers. This makes it very convenient for people to send faxes to you easily and without additional cost. In the future GoFaxer will have local telephone numbers available. Further, you can’t port your old fax numbers, but you can forward your old fax number to your new GoFaxer fax number.
- Can I send and receive faxes to and from international fax numbers?
- No. Your service with GoFaxer only allows you to send to numbers within the United States.
- Can I receive multiple faxes at the same time?
- Yes. There are no fax lines for you to worry about – so no busy signals on your end to annoy people. This means that you can accept more than one incoming fax at a time.
- How do I compose outgoing faxes?
- When you compose a new fax on GoFaxer.com, the body of your fax message will serve as a cover page. If you leave this blank, there will be no cover page. You can then attach various types of files that will automatically be transformed in a faxable document. You’ll attach them just like attaching files in an e-mail. GoFaxer currently supports many popular files types that can be transformed into faxes. These file extensions include but are not limited to:

- .bmp

- How do I read incoming fax messages?
- GoFaxer turns incoming faxes in to the universally readable .pdf file extension. The most common way to view .pdf files is with the Adobe Acrobat Reader (Adobe Reader), a free program that you most likely already have installed. If you don’t have it, you can download the free program here: get.adobe.com/reader. The .pdf files will be attachments on your incoming fax message that you can download and view. If you don’t want the fax, simply delete it.
- Can I receive incoming faxes in an e-mail account?
- Yes. GoFaxer is similar to e-mail and can forward your incoming fax messages to any number of e-mail accounts. When you sign up for GoFaxer, you simply add the e-mail addresses that you want GoFaxer to forward new fax messages to - it is that easy. This makes it simple to learn about incoming faxes that you aren’t expecting without having to log in to GoFaxer.com – just by checking your normal e-mail account(s).
- How does GoFaxer prevent against spam faxes?
- Fax spam comes in a variety of different forms, which GoFaxer handles in different ways. The most compelling feature of GoFaxer is that you decide what to view and/or print out. Thus, unwanted faxes can be easily deleted without creating waste. You also have control to prevent spam faxes from being counted against your monthly page quota. If you report spam faxes to GoFaxer customer service we will make sure they aren’t counted against you or that you won’t be charged for them.
- Can I view faxes from my mobile phone?
- Most smart phones feature the ability to view .pdf files as well as the ability to receive incoming e-mail with attachments. To view incoming GoFaxer faxes on your mobile phone or devices, you can either log in to GoFaxer.com from its compatible Internet browser, or more simply you can have your GoFaxer messages forwarded to an e-mail account that you receive on your mobile device. When you receive incoming messages from GoFaxer, simply download and view the attached .pdf document to view faxes on your mobile phone or device.
- Are there limitations imposed during the GoFaxer service trial period?
- Yes. If you are trying out GoFaxer with an included trial period there will be limitation on use of the service. Limitations may vary from time to time but involve limiting the number of different people you can fax to in each 24 hour period, as well as how many faxes you can send at a time. The reason these limitations exist is to prevent abuse of the service during the trial period. If you are using the service in a trial period and wish to remove the limitations, you can immediately switch to a paid account by contacting our customer service who can remove the limitations upon your request.
- What obligations do I have when sending unsolicited commercial faxes?
- GoFaxer wants to remind you that you are obligated to follow all applicable state and Federal laws when sending commercial messages. Unsolicited commercial messages are subject to various regulations including a way for recipients to “opt-out.” If you send any unsolicited commercial faxes you must include the necessary opt-out notices. You can learn more about these requirements here: http://www.fcc.gov/cgb/consumerfacts/unwantedfaxes.html. Not complying with these requirements is a violation of the terms of service: http://www.gofaxer.com/terms.
- How does the free trial work?
- GoFaxer offers a free trial for its service on certain GoFaxer service packages. Details on regarding the trials are discussed in the product information and in greater detail in the GoFaxer Terms & Conditions. Packages that include the free trial currently include the credit card billed monthly service plans. Annual (yearly) service plans and local telephone billed (LEC) plans do not include a free trial.
